After concluding the most decorated career by a pole vaulter in collegiate history, Luke Winder '18 joined the North Central College coaching staff prior to the 2019 outdoor season as an assistant coach for the men's track and field program.
Winder closed his collegiate career at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in March, claiming his seventh individual national title in the pole vault to become the first vaulter in any NCAA division, male or female, to win the event four times indoors and seven times overall. He is an eight-time All-American in the pole vault, making him the 11th athlete in Division III history to win eight All-America awards in any single event.
Winder owns the Division III all-time indoor national championship meet record in the vault with a clearance of 18 feet, 1.25 inches at the 2016 championship in Grinnell, Iowa. He cleared 18'4.50" at North Central's Dr. Keeler Invitational in 2018 is the all-time Division III outdoor best. Both performances are North Central records.
Winder resides in Naperville.
