Tim Hird '14 joined the North Central College men's cross country and track and field coaching staffs prior to the 2019-2020 academic year as an assistant coach.
During his tenure at North Central Hird was an Academic All-Conference honoree for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in 2010, 2011, and 2013. At the start of his career Hird only competed in one meet then sat out as a medical redshirt. His sophomore year Hird earned a seventh place finish at the CCIW Championships a 18th place finish at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Midwest Regional, and placed 109th at the NCAA National Championships. That year he was also a NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region selectee and was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team. in 2011 Hird placed 18th at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships, 22nd at the CCIW Championships, and 79th at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. In 2013 Hird helped North Central to win their 40th straight conference title and also placed 18th at Midwest Region Championships and 33rd at Division III National Championships to earn All-America honors. In his final season Hird finished 25th at the Midwest Regional, 121st at the NCAA Division III Championships and earned All-Midwest Region honors.
A native of Rock Island, Illinois Hird graduated from North Central in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in sports management then again in 2016 with a master's degree in leadership studies with a concentration in higher education leadership and now currently resides in Naperville, Illinois.
