ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Nov. 15, 2008) - Using just three swimmers, the North Central College women's swimming team racked up 119 points in a 403-119 dual meet loss to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Augustana College, Saturday afternoon at the Carver P.E. Center.
Jakki Roller accounted for one of the team's two first place finishes, winning the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:24.19. Roller placed second in the 50 yard freestyle race with a 29.05 and clocked a 1:04.97 in the 100 yard free to place third. Kelsey Tumpane (Fr., Aurora, Ill./West) claimed the team's other event victory, winning the 100 yard backstroke in 1:07.11. Robin Gadient claimed two third place finishes and one fifth place finish on the day competing in the 100 yard, 200 yard and 500 yard freestyle races. Gadient placed fifth in the 100 with a 1:10.16, third in the 200 with a 2:29.4 and third in the 500 with a 7:12.40.
Saturday's meet was the first dual meet of the season for the Cardinals who take the rest of the month off, returning to the pool on Friday, December 5 for the two-day Wheaton College Invitational.
