Sep. 23, 2008 – North Central College goalkeeper Elise Manzie (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Central) was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin defensive player of the week after recording back-to-back shutouts in last week's games. Manzie has not allowed a goal in 284 minutes, helping the team to a four-game unbeaten streak.

The junior keeper had eight saves during the week, helping the team remain unbeaten at home, playing all 200 minutes in goal. Her streak of 284 minutes without allowing a goal spans over three games.

Manzie stopped three shots last Wednesday in a 0-0 double overtime draw at home against the University of Dubuque. On Saturday, Manzie stopped five shots, helping the Cardinals hold on for the 1-0 win over Albion College (Mich.). Saturday's shutout was the fourth of the season and eighth of her career, breaking the school career shutout record of seven set by Kristina Scherer from 2003-2006.

North Central (4-2-3) begins conference play on Wednesday afternoon when undefeated Carthage College comes to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium for the final game of the team's five-game homestand. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. against the 7-0 Lady Reds.
