Noll earns CCIW hitter of the week honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (April 8, 2008) - Kaylee Noll (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) was nominated College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week.  Noll hit .583 over five games leading the Cardinals to a 5-1 record, 14-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW.   Illinois Wesleyan's Christy Engel was named CCIW pitcher of the week.

Noll drove in seven runs and scored nine times.  The senior racked up three doubles, a home run and a sacrifice fly while reaching base on five walks and a hit-by-pitch to finish North Central's six game stretch with a .722 on-base-percentage.  Noll also threw out a runner trying to steal in the Cardinal's second game of the North Central Invitational.

Engel, a sophomore pitcher from St. Charles, Ill., and St. Charles North High School, was 3-1 with a 0.28 earned run average in five appearances last week. She struck out six and allowed two hits in an 8-0 win over North Park. She struck out five and allowed six hits in a 4-1 win over Carthage and fanned seven in a five-inning two-hitter against the University of Chicago in an 8-0 win. In her only loss (1-0) to No. 3 ranked DePauw, she allowed four hits and an unearned run in six innings. Opponents batted .159 against her in 24 2/3 innings.
