Sep. 20, 2008-- North Central College extended their unbeaten streak to four games, recording a 1-0 victory over Albion College (Mich.) Saturday afternoon, in a non-conference women's soccer game at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The Cardinals struck early with
Nora Wessels (So., Normal, Ill./Community) scoring the games lone goal in the 5
th minute, while the Britons played the majority of the game shorthanded after their goalkeeper was sent off in the 21
st minute.

Brittany Jones (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) pass set up the Wessels score, just four minutes and 49 seconds into the game in what turned out to be the game winner. In the 21
st minute, Albion's Caitlin Bowman was red-carded after using her hands out of the box, trying to stop a
Laura Petersen (Jr., Herscher, Ill./Herscher) breakaway. The Cardinals were on the offensive for most of the first half, recording 10 first half shots.
Elise Manzie (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Central) recorded her second straight shutout and fourth on the year, stopping five shots in 90 minutes of work. Emily Heddon had six saves for the Britons, playing in relief of Bowman, allowing zero goals. Bowman had stopped two shots and allowed one goal before leaving the game.
With the win North Central improves to 4-2-3 on the season, extending their unbeaten streak to four games. The Cardinals are 2-0-2 in that stretch, allowing just one goal in that span. The Britons fall to 2-4, dropping their second straight 1-0 decision. North Central returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 24 when they open up College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play against Carthage College at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
