Women’s swimmers split dual in Kenosha

KENOSHA, Wis. (Jan. 10, 2009) - Returning from a 35-day layoff, the North Central College women's swimming team showed little signs of rust; recording seven event winners to split a pair of duals against Carthage College and Robert Morris College-Chicago, Saturday at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center. The Cardinals fell 117-81 to 11th ranked Carthage while dominating Robert Morris 130-17.

Stefanie Masterton (So., Morton Grove, Ill./Niles West) took home two events to pace the Cardinals, swimming a time of 2:38.38 to win the 200 breaststroke and a 2:32.41 to win the 200 individual medley. Masterton also finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a season best time of 1:13.73. Heather Granzella (Sr., Salida, Colo./Colorado State) won the 500 freestyle, finishing with a time of 6:57.17 while the 200 free relay swam their fastest time of the season, clocking a 1:54.82 to win the event.

North Central, now 1-2 in dual meets, faces Beloit College next Saturday in Beloit, Wis. in their penultimate non-conference dual meet of the season. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
