DECATUR, Ill. (Oct. 3, 2009) --
A late goal proved to be the difference-maker as host Millikin University edged past North Central College, 1-0, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's soccer match at Millikin Field.

The two squads battled to a scoreless first half with the Big Blue ripping off 10 shots to the Cardinals' two.

Millikin would break the scoreless deadlock in the 86th minute after Brittany Belrichard scored off an assist from Meghan Schroeder.

Elise Manzie had a busy day in goal, stopping nine shots and logging in all 90 minutes in goal. Her counterpart, Natalie Robertaccio recorded five saves for the shutout.

With the loss, North Central falls to 6-4 overall and 0-2 in conference while Millikin improves to 8-3-1 and 1-1 in CCIW play. The Cardinals return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 7, squaring off against Illinois Wesleyan University inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
