PARK FOREST, Ill. (Feb. 28, 2009)-The North Central College men's tennis squad returned to the courts after a 28-day layoff on Saturday, dropping a 7-2 decision to Olivet Nazarene University. Sam Sweeney remained perfect on the season in singles play, picking up the win to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Sweeney and Matt Boguslawski recorded the team's lone doubles victory, picking up the win at the No. 1 spot by defeating ONU's Uyapo Nleya and Sebastian Esquetini, 8-3. Chris Bennorth and Josh Clay played tough in the No. 3 slot, falling 8-4 to the Tigers' tandem of Andrew Gregory and Mo Hutton.

In singles, Sweeney won his third straight match at the No. 1 position, earning the hard fought 6-1, 6-7, 10-8 victory over Mirko Peskusich.

The loss drops North Central to 1-2 overall while Olivet Nazarene improves to 2-2 in dual match play. The Cardinals return to the courts on Thursday, March 5, facing Elgin Community College in Hanover Park, Ill.
