Apr. 28, 2009--
The North Central College men's tennis squad concluded its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin slate on Tuesday, dropping a 7-2 decision to Wheaton College on a cold and windy day at Ranchview Park.

Wheaton (4-10, 2-3 CCIW) jumped out to the early lead, taking all three doubles matches. In No. 1 doubles, Sam Sweeney and Matt Boguslawski built an early advantage before falling 8-6 in a nailbiter to the Thunder duo of Jordan Williams and Davis Moore. At No. 2, Ben Youel and Gabe Youel kept the score close before ultimately succumbing 8-4 to David Warren and Joel Parrish.

In singles, Sweeney downed Moore 6-0, 6-3 in No. 1 action for his 11th straight victory, concluding the conference slate unbeaten. At No. 2, Boguslawski netted the 6-2, 6-2 win over Ian Kirchner for the team's only other victory on the afternoon. Eric McKee dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 3 while in No. 6, Ben Youel fell 6-1, 7-5.

The Cardinals (13-8, 2-3 CCIW) return to the court on Friday, traveling to Kenosha, Wis. where they will compete at the CCIW Tournament.
