Complete All-Conference Team
May 7, 2009-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin released its 2009 All-Conference men's tennis team on Thursday with North Central College landing two athletes on the team while also securing the CCIW Player of the Year and CCIW Coach of the Year awards.
Sam Sweeney earned Player of the Year after finishing the season unbeaten against conference opposition while first year head coach Mike Patrick was selected by his peers as Coach of the Year after turning the Cardinals into contenders on the tennis court.
Sweeney was a First Team All-Conference selection after finishing the season with a 21-2 record at No. 1 singles, winning his final 13 matches of the season while posting a 7-0 mark against the CCIW. In doubles, Sweeney posted a 17-6 mark at the No. 1 position, finishing the season 5-2 against the conference.
Joining Sweeney on the All-Conference team is his doubles partner
Matt Boguslawski who makes cut as a Second Team selection. The freshman compiled a 15-7 record playing at the No. 2 singles position, finishing with a 5-2 record against conference opponents while concluding the season on a five-match win streak.
Patrick netted CCIW Coach of the Year honors, guiding the Cardinals to a 14-9 overall record and 2-3 conference mark in his first year after the team accumulated just three wins in the two years prior to his arrival.
