ELMHURST, Ill. (Sep. 15, 2009) -- North Central College extended its winning streak to five on Tuesday, posting an 8-1 victory over host Elmhurst College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's tennis match at the Lester Brune Tennis Courts.
In doubles, the Cardinals claimed two of three, posting victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Elizabeth Micheletti and
Allison Paschold downed Blaire Hufford and Donna McKinney, 8-1 at No. 2 while
Abigail Conover and
Jessica Ignarski remained perfect as a doubles pair in dual match competition, rolling to the 8-1 victory.
The Cardinals swept singles for the second straight match, winning all six.
Cory Schillerstrom rallied from a doubles defeat to knock off Virginia Dallman, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 1.
Alicia DeGrado posted a, 6-3, 6-0, win at No. 2 while Micheletti and Paschold each recorded wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, respectively. At No. 5, Conover continued her winning ways, pulling out the, 7-5, 6-2, win for her eight straight win of the season while Ignarski easily won, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
North Central improves to 6-1 overall and 1-1 within the CCIW with the win while Elmhurst falls to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Cardinals return to the courts on Saturday, September 19, traveling to Wheaton College to face the host Thunder and Augustana College in a dual match conference doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m.
