Sept. 28, 2009 -- The North Central College women's tennis squad finished Monday afternoon one game shy of perfection, winning 96 of the 97 games contested, rolling to the 9-0 victory over Millikin University in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at Ranchview Park.
In doubles,
Cory Schillerstrom and
Alicia DeGrado cruised to the 8-0 win at the No. 1 position while
Abigail Conover and
Jessica Ignarski posted an identical score in No. 3 action.
Elizabeth Micheletti and
Allison Paschold dropped the lone game of the day, winning 8-1 at No. 2.
In singles, the Cardinals swept every game, posting, 6-0, 6-0, victories in all six positions. Schillerstrom and DeGrado were victorious at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively, while Micheletti (No. 3), Paschold (No. 4), Conover (No. 5) and Ignarski (No. 6) all picked up wins at their respective positions.
The win was the Cardinals (10-2, 3-2 CCIW) third straight and was the team's second consecutive, 9-0 win. North Central returns to the courts on Wednesday, September 30, facing Carthage College in a CCIW match at Ranchview Park.
