Sept. 30, 2009 -- The North Central College women's tennis squad saw its three-match win streak come to a halt, Wednesday afternoon, falling 6-3 to Carthage College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual match at Ranchview Park.
Abigail Conover and
Jessica Ignarski picked up North Central's lone doubles win of the afternoon, coming away with the 8-5 victory in No. 3 action.
In singles, it would again be Conover and Ignarski carrying the team, both posting victories in the third set. Conover posted the, 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 win at No. 5 singles while Ignarski edged Stephanie Zundl, 6-1, 4-6, 11-9, at the No. 6 position. In No. 1 singles,
Cory Schillerstrom pushed Gina Klein to three sets, falling 4-6, 6-3, 10-12.
The loss snaps the Cardinals three match win streak as they fall to 10-3 overall and 3-3 in conference while the Lady Reds improve to 8-4 and 5-1 in CCIW action. North Central returns to the court tomorrow at 3 p.m., facing local rival Benedictine University in a non-conference clash at Ranchview Park.
