Oct 1, 2010-- The North Central College softball team was one of 94 NCAA Division III institutions selected to the girls got game/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team this week while six individuals earned NFCA Scholar Athlete honors.
The Cardinals finished the 2009-2010 academic year with a 3.130 grade point average and is one of three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schools to win the honor, joining Elmhurst College and Wheaton College.
Earning a spot on the NFCA Scholar Athlete Team were
Alyssa Rabulinski,
Brianna Nelson,
Erin Drennan,
Holly Roadruck,
Justine Walker and
Mary Caron. In total, 19 individuals from the CCIW earned NFCA Scholar Athlete honors.
The girls got game Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs for the 2009-2010 academic year. As a second component of the program, all submitted student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA during last academic year are named as girls got game/NFCA Scholar Athletes.
The Cardinals finished the 2010 campaign with a 32-14 record, earning a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament where the squad finished 1-2, defeating Trine University (Ind.) 8-6 in the opener before falling 4-3 to Ohio Northern University and 5-0 to Washington University in Saint Louis. It was the Cardinals ninth NCAA Tournament appearance and second in the last three years.
