Greencastle Regional All-Tournament Team

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (May 18, 2010)-- North Central College outfielder Mary Caron has been selected to the Greencastle Regional All-Tournament Team for her performance at the NCAA Softball Championships from May 13-15.

Caron was one of three outfielders and the lone Cardinal to be represented on the 15-player squad released Monday night. The sophomore led the regional in batting average, hitting .625 (5-for-8) during the team's three-game run. Caron belted two doubles, scored three runs and had an on-base percentage of .667. Defensively, the outfielder recorded eight putouts and committed no errors.

On the season, Caron hit .302 (39-for-129), driving in 25 runs and belting 12 extra-base hits while recording five stolen bases.

22nd-ranked North Central (32-14) concluded the tournament with a 1-2 mark, defeating Trine University (Ind.) 8-6 in the opener before falling 4-3 to Ohio Northern University and 5-0 to Washington University in Saint Louis. It was the Cardinals ninth NCAA Tournament appearance and second in the last three years.
