Sept. 21, 2010-- North Central College goalkeeper Amy Frazzini has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Cardinals to a pair of victories over the weekend at the Sal Vaccaro Tournament.

Frazzini wins the award after logging 159 of the team's 180 minutes over the weekend, helping the Cardinals shutout both of their opponents at the Sal Vaccaro Tournament. The junior combined with fellow keeper Shannon Malahy to post a 5-0 shutout victory over Eureka College (Ill.) on Saturday, logging the opening 69 minutes of the game. The following day, Frazzini made five saves against Mount Mercy College (Iowa) in a game that was scoreless until the 63rd minute, posting her third shutout of the season as the Cardinals won their second straight tournament title.

Frazzini has now logged 174 minutes without conceding a goal, a streak spanning three games. On the year, the exercise science major has notched 16 saves and has a 0.87 goals against average through six games, posting three shutouts.

This is the second CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honor in Frazzini's career. The goalkeeper won the honor on Oct. 14, 2008 after posting a shutout in a 1-0 overtime victory against Maranatha Baptist Bible College (Wis.).

The Cardinals (4-2) return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 22, hosting the University of Dubuque (Iowa) to close out their three-game homestand. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
