Sept. 8, 2010-- The North Central College women's tennis squad remained unbeaten in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon, defeating local rival Benedictine University, 8-1, at the NCC Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals (3-1) opened the match strong, taking two of three doubles matches.
Cory Schillerstrom and
Abigail Conover earned a hard fought, 8-5, victory over Benedictine's (2-2) MaryClare Loughery and Tiffany Wakim in No. 1 action while at No. 3,
Allison Ignarski and
Jessica Ignarski cruised to the 8-0 win.
North Central swept all six singles matches as
Stephanie Brunetti breezed to the, 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 6. Schillerstrom downed Loughery, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles while
Alicia DeGrado took down Lisa Carrillo, 6-0, 7-5 in No. 2 action. Conover was victorious at No. 3 singles with a, 6-2, 6-0, decision over Ewelina Stachulak while
Jessica Ignarski won, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4. Margaret Youel closed out the dual with a, 6-0, 6-1, win over Lina Savickas at No. 5.
The Cardinals will put their unbeaten non-conference dual record to the test on Thursday, heading downstate to take on Division II Quincy University in Quincy, Ill. with matches slated to begin at 4 p.m.
