ELGIN, Ill. (Oct. 5, 2011)-- Playing its final dual match before the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, the North Central College women's tennis team encountered little resistance on Wednesday afternoon, downing the host Judson University Eagles, 7-2.
The Cardinals (8-4) opened the dual with a sweep of all three doubles matches.
Cory Schillerstrom and
Katie Hatch prevailed, 8-4, at No. 1 over the Eagles' (5-3) Alexa Schofield and Rachel Hegel while
Reynolds Cross and
Maggie Youel blanked Antigone Lowery and Megan Joyce, 8-0, at No. 2.
Stephanie Brunetti and
Madeline Urban completed the doubles sweep, earning the 8-1 decision at No. 3.
In singles, Schillerstrom disposed Schofield, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 while Urban posted her team leading 15th victory of the year at No. 4, downing Kristen Kress, 6-0, 6-3. Brunetti won by a, 6-1, 6-0, count at No. 5 while Cross captured the, 6-3, 6-4, victory over Kirstie Shales at No. 6.
North Central returns to the courts on Friday, Oct. 7, traveling to Kenosha, Wis. for the CCIW Championships beginning at 9 a.m.
