KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Mar. 21, 2011)-- Claiming all six singles matches the North Central College men's tennis squad rolled past Hope College (Mich.) 8-1 on Monday morning in a non-conference dual match at the Oak Street Park Community Center.
In doubles, the Cardinals' (3-2) No. 1 tandem of
Matt Boguslawski and
Adam Ciccone netted their third straight victory, edging Hope's Alex Hughes and Gabe Casher, 9-8(5) while Adam McKinley and
Chris Bennorth prevailed, 8-6, at the No. 3 position.
In singles, Boguslawski improved to 6-2 on the year, breezing past the Flying Dutchmen's (1-5) No. 1 man, Alex Hughes by a 6-0, 6-1, count. Bennorth rallied from a first set defeat to knock off Jon Lautz, 1-6, 7-5, 11-9, at No. 2 singles while
Eric McKee found himself in a similar predicament at No. 3, coming away with the, 5-7, 6-1, 10-7, victory against Hope's Parker Bussies.
Boris Kampel collected his first victory of the season, downing Kevin Hagan, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6, at No. 4 while
Josh Clay defeated Casher, 7-6(6), 6-1, at No. 5 singles. McKinley encountered little resistance at No. 6, coming away with the, 6-1, 6-4, straight sets win over Davis Vanderveen.
North Central closes out its spring break training trip tomorrow with a doubleheader, taking on Calvin College (Mich.) at 9 a.m. before facing the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 12 p.m.
