Apr. 3, 2010-- The North Central College women's tennis squad opened up the spring portion of its schedule over the weekend, falling 9-0 to nationally-ranked Wheaton College on Friday before succumbing to Saint Mary's College (Ind.), 8-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Against the 24th-ranked Thunder (15-0) on Friday, the Cardinals (10-5) utilized an untested lineup with five of the six competitors' freshmen. 
Abigail Conover and Margaret Youel suffered an 8-3 setback at No. 1 doubles against Elizabeth Worsowicz and Sara Federschmiedt while 
Polly Dalton and 
Allison Ignarski fell 8-2 in No. 3 action.
In singles, Ignarski fell, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 while Conover was on the wrong end of a, 6-1, 6-1, decision in No. 1 action to 12th-ranked Worsowicz.
On Sunday at the South Bend Racquet Club in Mishawaka, Ind., 
Madeline Urban provided the Cardinals lone victory against the Belles (7-5), downing Kate Grabarek, 6-3, 6-3, in No. 5 singles action. Conover pushed Jillian Hurley to three sets at No. 1 singles before stumbling, 6-7(5-7), 6-4, 12-10, while 
Stephanie Brunetti forced a decisive third set as well at No. 4, falling 5-7, 6-0, 10-2.
North Central takes the next two weeks off before returning to the courts on Sunday, April 17, for a dual match against Aurora University
