ELMHURST, Ill. (Sept. 20, 2011)-- The North Central College women's tennis team tallied its third straight dual match victory on Tuesday afternoon, downing College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Elmhurst College, 5-4, at the Brune Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals (5-2, 2-1 CCIW) fell into an early hole as the host Bluejays (1-6, 1-5 CCIW) captured two of three doubles matches.
Stephanie Brunetti and
Madeline Urban pulled out a gritty victory at the No. 3 doubles position, earning the hard fought, 9-8, win over Nicole Darga and Emily Tarlini.
In singles,
Cory Schillerstrom needed three sets to dispose Stephanie Ruff, prevailing, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, while Urban tallied her second win of the afternoon, downing Kayla Magiapane, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 4.
Brunetti also remained perfect on the day, breezing to a, 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 5 while
Reynolds Cross pulled out the, 6-4, 7-5, decision at No. 6.
North Central returns to the court on Thursday, facing non-conference foe Aurora University at 3 p.m. at the NCC Tennis Courts to kick off a four-match homestand.
