Women's Tennis Rolls Past Spartans, 8-1

The North Central College women's tennis squad continued to have a hot hand at home, posting an 8-1 victory over Aurora University in a non-conference dual match on Thursday afternoon at the NCC Tennis Courts.

The Cardinals (6-2) have now won eight straight home dual matches while rolling to their fourth straight victory overall.

North Central swept all three doubles matches, including Stephanie Brunetti and Madeline Urban posting an 8-0 victory at No. 3 over the Spartans' (5-8) Allison Kilker and Nicole Geisser. Cory Schillerstrom and Katie Hatch rolled to the 8-3 win at No. 1 while Maggie Youel and Reynolds Cross were 8-1 victors at No. 2.

In singles, Schillerstrom won by retirement over Maureen Wagner, holding a, 7-5, 4-1, edge in the match at No. 1. Youel won, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 while Urban posted the, 6-1, 6-1, win at No. 4. Brunetti earned the, 6-2, 6-1, decision at No. 5 while Cross blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.

The Cardinals return to the court on Saturday for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin doubleheader, facing Augustana College at 10 a.m. and Illinois Wesleyan University at 2 p.m.
