Sept. 24, 2011-- The North Central College women's tennis squad split a pair of College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual matches on Saturday at the NCC Tennis Courts, rolling past Augustana College, 6-3, to open the day before falling, 6-3, to Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Cardinals (7-3, 3-2 CCIW) opened the day strong, capturing two of three doubles matches en route to the 6-3 win over Augustana. Cory Schillerstrom and Katie Hatch downed the Vikings' (5-6, 2-4 CCIW) Kim Sawyer and Meghan Wethington, 9-7, at No. 1 while Stephanie Brunetti and Madeline Urban prevailed by an 8-2 count at No. 3.

In singles, Youel downed Brittany Reece, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2 while Hatch need three sets to dispose Ktista Panko, 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 10-6, at No. 3. Urban earned the, 6-4, 6-4, win at No. 4 while Brunetti was a, 6-3, 6-0, winner at No. 5.

Against the Titans (4-4, 3-2 CCIW), Schillestrom and Hatch accounted for the team's lone victory in doubles, taking down IWU's Andrea Kerwin and Helen Alex by an 8-1 count.

In singles, Urban rallied from a first set defeat to down Alissa Goetz, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 while Brunetti posted the, 6-3, 6-3, win over Svenja Schroeder at No. 5.

North Central closes out its homestand and CCIW dual match schedule on Tuesday, facing Carthage College at the NCC Tennis Courts beginning at 3 p.m.
