Sept. 28, 2011-- The North Central College women's tennis squad closed out its home schedule on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a 5-4 setback to Carthage College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual match at the NCC Tennis Courts.

The Cardinals (7-4, 3-3 CCIW) jumped out to an early lead, claiming two of three doubles matches. Reynolds Cross and Maggie Youel posted the 8-6 victory at No. 2 over the Lady Reds' (6-3, 5-1 CCIW) Bari Reynolds and Erin Henrickson while Stephanie Brunetti and Madeline Urban snuck past Abby Ludwig and Amanda Bizub, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 3.

In singles, Urban downed Henrickson, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 while Cross rallied from an opening set defeat to down Bizub, 2-6, 6-4, 10-7, at No. 6.

North Central returns to action on Friday, traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament.
