Sept. 3, 2011-- The North Central College women's tennis squad opened its 2011 season on Saturday afternoon, blasting College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Millikin University, 9-0, in a dual match at the NCC Tennis Courts.

In doubles, Cory Schillerstrom and Katie Hatch rolled past Kendall Robison and Hannah Church, 8-1, at the No. 1 position while Margaret Youel and Reynolds Cross blanked Sarah Kidwell and Brianna Hogan, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles. Madeline Urban and Claire Davenport secured the doubles sweep for the Cardinals (1-0, 1-0 CCIW) with an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 spot.

In singles, Schillerstrom took down the Big Blue's (0-1, 0-1 CCIW) Robison, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 1 action while Youel rolled, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2. Hatch emerged with a, 6-1, 6-0, win at No. 3 singles while Urban and Cross each prevailed, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Angela DeLong captured the, 6-2, 6-0, victory at No. 6 singles.

The Cardinals return to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 6, making the short trek down Chicago Avenue to face Benedictine University in a dual match beginning at 3 p.m.
