Cardinals End Season with 3-1 Loss at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 31, 2012) – Despite taking an early lead, the North Central College women's soccer team fell in the opening round of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament at the hands of Augustana College, 3-1 on Wednesday night at Thorson-Lucken Field.
 
Hope Stayer opened up the scoring for North Central in the 44th minute, connecting on her team leading 14th goal of the season off a pass from Hannah Magiera, giving the visiting Cardinals a 1-0 advantage.
 
The Cardinal lead would not last long as Augustana's Taylor Navarro found the back of the net just 21 seconds later off an assist from Taylor Moesele, knotting the score 1-1.
 
In the 59th minute, Navarro put home her second goal of the contest, giving the host Vikings the 2-1 lead.
 
Amanda Tucker would put the game out of reach in the 77th minute, scoring off a pass from Kelly Farrell, giving the Vikings (16-3-0) the decisive 3-1 advantage.
 
The Cardinals finish the season with an overall record of 6-9-3 while compiling a 2-3-2 record in CCIW play.
