ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 19, 2012)-- The North Central College men's tennis team encountered a pair of stiff challenges on Monday afternoon, ending up on the wrong side of a 5-4 affair against Lawrence University (Wis.) before falling 9-0 to regionally-ranked Grinnell College (Iowa) to close out day two of the team's spring break trip.

The Cardinals (2-3) grabbed an early lead on the Vikings (4-6), capturing two of three doubles matches. Will Exner and Rustam Saini downed Caleb Ray and Craig Sherwood, 8-5, at No. 2 while Eric McKee and Boris Kampel took care of business at No. 3, posting an 8-3 victory.

In singles, Kampel rolled Sherwood, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 while Mason Sass earned the, 6-1, 6-4, victory at No. 6 over Shota Nakada.

In the nightcap against the Pioneers (10-3), ranked 15th within the Central Region, Matt Boguslawski put up a fight at No. 1 before succumbing 6-4, 6-3, to Ishan Bhadkamkar while the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles squads suffered identical 8-5 setbacks.

North Central returns to the court tomorrow at 9 a.m., squaring off against Colby College (Maine) in the team's penultimate match of spring break.
