CHICAGO (Mar. 24, 2012)-- The North Central College women's tennis team etched its first victory of the spring season on Saturday, downing host Roosevelt University, 7-2, on Saturday at the Midtown Racquet Club.

The Cardinals (9-6) swept all three doubles matches including a pair of 8-0 decisions at No. 1 and No. 3. Cory Schillerstrom and Jenny Velasquez blanked the Lakers' (3-5) No. 1 squad of Val Vasquez and Danielle Smith while Claie Davenport and Katie Blum rolled 8-0 over Liz Bartz and Megan Walsh at No. 3. Maggie Youel and Reynolds Cross tallied the victory at No. 2, downing Carina Balam and Feven Haile by an 8-5 count.

In singles, Schillerstrom breezed past Balam, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 while Cross prevailed, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4. Blum blanked Bartz, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 while Erica Pang rolled to the, 6-1, 6-3, victory at No. 6.

North Central is idle for nearly a month, returning to the courts on Saturday, April 21 for a dual match against Dominican University in River Forest, Ill.
