HANOVER PARK, Ill. (Apr. 10, 2012)-- The North Central College men's tennis squad was unable to overcome host Judson University on Tuesday at the indoor courts of the Centre Courts Club, suffering a 7-2 non-conference setback.
Mason Sass and
Andrew McKinley tallied the Cardinals' (2-7) lone doubles victory, disposing of the Eagles' (9-10) Jeffrey Splinter and Adam Westhauser by an 8-3 count at the No. 3 position.
In singles,
Adam Ciccone downed Splinter, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 4 position.
Boris Kampel won his opening set at No. 3 singles before ultimately falling, 3-6, 6-4, 10-4, while
Rustam Saini and Sass also pushed their adversaries to a third set. Saini stumbled, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10, at No. 5 while Sass fell, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-8, at No. 6.
The Cardinals return to the courts on Thursday, hosting Concordia University Chicago in a 3 p.m. non-conference showdown at the NCC Tennis Courts.
