LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Apr. 21, 2012)-- The North Central College men's tennis team was unable to rally from an early deficit, falling 5-4 to host Lake Forest College on Saturday in a non-conference dual match.
The Foresters (8-9) won two of three doubles matches to grab the early lead. The Cardinals' (3-11) No. 3 squad of
Andrew McKinley and
Mason Sass earned the team's lone doubles victory, edging Tommy White and Kevin Lasky, 8-6.
In singles,
Boris Kampel needed three sets to retire Elliot Muth, 7-5, 2-6, 10-5, at No. 3 while
Rustam Saini and
Mason Sass prevailed at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Saini breezed past Anthony Mykhaylovskyy, 6-1, 6-1, while Sass rallied from an opening set defeat to win, 5-7, 6-0, 10-5, over Nick Cantor.
The Cardinals returns to the courts tomorrow with a 12 p.m. non-conference showdown against nationally-ranked University of Chicago.
