Apr. 28, 2012-- The North Central College men's tennis squad closed out its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season slate over the weekend, falling 6-3 at home against Carthage College on Friday before stumbling 6-3 against Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. on Saturday.

On Friday, the Cardinals' (3-14, 0-5 CCIW) Mason Sass and Andrew McKinley downed Carthage's (19-7, 4-1 CCIW) Conor Moon and Alex McLean, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles while Boris Kampel won, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, at No. 4 singles and Rustam Saini prevailed, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8, at No. 5.

On Saturday, the host Titans (6-9, 1-4 CCIW) claimed all three doubles matches and the top three matches in singles play.

Kampel tallied his second win in as many days, downing Aaron Guenther, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles while Saini prevailed, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5. Sass accounted for the Cardinals' third victory of the day, rallying from an early set defeat to win, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, over Steven Hayman.

North Central returns to the courts on Friday, competing in the opening round of the CCIW Tournament in Rock Island, Ill.
