Apr. 3, 2012-- The North Central College men's tennis team opened up College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Tuesday afternoon, suffering an 8-1 setback to Elmhurst College at the NCC Tennis Courts.
Mason Sass provided the Cardinals' (2-6, 0-1 CCIW) lone match victory of the day, defeating the Bluejays' (9-4, 1-0 CCIW) Jim White, 6-2, 6-1, in NO. 6 singles action.
Boris Kampel and
Rustam Saini offered stiff resistance at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Kampel fell, 6-4, 7-6 (13) at the hands of Vincent McPherson while Saini was edged, 6-4, 6-4, to Kevin Noble. In doubles, the Cardinals' No. 3 tandem of Sass and
Andrew McKinley suffered an 8-6 defeat to Noble and Justin Guenther.
North Central returns to the courts next Tuesday, traveling to Elgin, Ill. to face Judson University in a non-conference dual match beginning at 3 p.m.
