May 1, 2012-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin released its weekly award winners for outdoor track & field on Tuesday, with North Central College's Peter Geraghty securing Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Geraghty earns the honor after winning the pole vault at the Benedictine University Twilight Invitational on Friday. The junior cleared a season-best height of 17 feet, 0 3/4 inches, a mark that currently sits second nationally, behind teammate Josh Winder.

The vaulter is the third Cardinal to earn the honor this season, joining Winder (April 17) and high jumper Zach Heerspink (April 10) as CCIW Field Athlete of the Week winners.

His performance on Friday helped the fourth-ranked Cardinals run away with the team-title at the 17-squad invitational, amassing 150 points. Olivet Nazarene University placed second with a team tally of 87.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday for day one of the CCIW Outdoor Championships hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. Action is slated to get underway at 10 a.m.
