Men’s Track Notches Final Marks at Last Chance Meets

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. & LA CROSSE, Wis. (May 13-14, 2026) -- The North Central College men's track and field team turned in 13 season or personal best marks across two midweek meets as part of last-ditch efforts to earn qualifying marks to the NCAA Championships next week. North Central sent a pair of Cardinals to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Final Qualifier, while another group competed at the Augustana College Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier. 

Tyler Schick opened the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier with a new personal best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:14.53 for an eighth-place finish. 

Jacob Kluckhohn ran a personal best time of 4:01.33 to finish sixth in the 1500m collegiate division, while Daniel Kasperan was 17th in the 1500m invitational division with a 3:54.05, and Aidan Armstrong was 20th at 3:55.21. Ari Elmayan posted a 4:05.12 to finish 10th in the collegiate race.

Drew Patterson ran the invitational section of the 800m and clocked a 1:54.61 time to finish 15th overall.

The 4-by-100m relay of Zach Anderson, Matt Lewis, Randy Reed, and Alexander Knight recorded a 41.40 time to finish eighth in the field. Reed also notched a seventh-place finish in the 200m after posting a 21.64 time. 

Jayden Leise jumped a season-best 14.59m (47'10.50") to win the triple jump on his fifth jump of the day. His mark moves him up to 23rd nationally. Prentice Myles turned in a fourth-place finish in the long jump, with his first attempt in the finals being his best jump of the day. 

Up in La Crosse, the site of this year's NCAA Championships, Travis Hoffman notched a personal best in the 400m hurdles, finishing sixth overall in a time of 53.77 seconds. Ben Balboa competed in the discus throw in La Crosse on Thursday, where he finished 11th with a 48.48m (159'1") mark.

North Central has two guaranteed qualifiers to the NCAA Track and Field Championships next weekend, May 21-23, with BJ Sorg in the 10k and Ben Balboa in the discus. The official list of NCAA qualifiers will be announced on Friday, May 15.
