HANOVER PARK, Ill. (Sept. 1, 2012)-- The North Central College women's tennis team was unable to take down College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin foe Wheaton College Saturday afternoon at the Centre Court Athletic Club, falling by a 9-0 margin.
The Thunder (1-0, 1-0 CCIW) took a commanding lead early winning all three doubles matches. In the No. 2 spot,
Jenny Velasquez and
Madeline Urban kept the match close, but ultimately fell 8-6 to Julie Buursma and Marissa Shults.
In singles play,
Reynolds Cross battled in the first set with Shults before succumbing, 2-6, 0-6 in the No. 4 spot.
The Cardinals (0-1, 0-1 CCIW) travel to Rock Island, Ill. on Sept. 3 to take on Loras College at 1 p.m. followed by Augustana College in a CCIW match at 4 p.m.
