Sept. 16, 2012 – The North Central College women's tennis team made quick work of Roosevelt University Sunday afternoon at the NCC Tennis Courts, cruising to a 9-0 victory.
 
The Cardinal (4-4) combination of Katie Hatch and Reynolds Cross downed Valerie Vasquez and Danielle Smith, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles while Jenny Velasquez and Madeline Urban shutout Carina Balan and Shaina Nolley, 8-0, at No. 2 and Rebecca Ross and Kassandra Bernardo breezed past the combination of Liz Bartz and Ernesta Ignotaite, 8-1, at the No. 3 position.
 
In singles play, Velasquez needed three sets to take down Balan, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8, at No. 1 while Katie Hatch was victorious at No. 2 due to forfeit.  At the No. 3 position, Madeline Urban downed Nolley, 6-1, 6-1, before Cross defeated Smith, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 4 spot.  At No. 5, Rebecca Ross cruised past Feven Haile, 6-0, 6-1, while Kassandra Bernardo was victorious at the No. 6 spot 6-2, 6-1, over Kylene Boos.
 
The Cardinals play host to Judson University on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the NCC Tennis Courts starting at 4 p.m.
