CCIW Press Release

Sept. 5, 2012 -
North Central College's Sarah Eggert has been selected the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the 2012 season.

Eggert received the honor after helping lead the Cardinals to a 3-1 finish at the Pacific Coast Classic last weekend. She finished with 86 total digs (a CCIW-best 5.38 digs per set) and a .976 serve reception percentage in the four matches.

Her highest single-match dig totals of the weekend came against North Central's toughest competition, as she tallied 26 digs in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over 2011 NCAA Division III Championships qualifier Chapman University (Calif.) on Friday, and later turned in 24 digs in a 3-0 victory over the 16th-ranked University of Massachusetts-Boston on Saturday.

Eggert is in her third season as a starter for the Cardinals. She has led the team in digs in each of the past two seasons and ranked seventh in the CCIW in digs per set in conference play last season.

North Central opens the home portion of its 2012 schedule on Wednesday, hosting Concordia University Chicago at 7 p.m. Live in-match statistics will be available at northcentralcollege.edu/athletics/stats/volleyball/2012/XLIVE.HTM.
