Jan. 29, 2013 - North Central College men's track and field athlete Peter Geraghty has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight time. The CCIW announced this week's selections on Tuesday.

Geraghty earns the honor after placing first in the pole vault at the Carthage College Tadd Metzger Invitational on Friday. The senior, who has won the last two NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in the event, cleared 17 feet, 3/4 inch in Friday's meet. His mark is a foot higher than any other vaulter in Division III thus far this season.

The vaulter is the first Cardinal to earn the honor this season, but it is the fourth time he has been named CCIW Field Athlete of the Week in his career.

The third-ranked Cardinals return to the track on Friday when they head to the Squig Converse Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Field events will begin at 5 p.m., with running events to get under way at 5:30.
