Cardinals Score 7-2 Victory Over Judson in Fall Season Finale

The North Central College women's tennis team concluded the fall regular season Wednesday afternoon at the NCC Tennis Courts, downing non-conference opponent Judson University, 7-2.

In the final tune-up before the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament, the Cardinals (8-5, 2-4 CCIW) claimed five of six singles matches on the afternoon.  Miranda Grizaffi downed Nyssa Fetzner in straight 6-1, 6-1 sets at the No. 2 spot, while Kelsey Forkin cruised past Kirstie Shales, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.  At the No. 4 position, Kayla Garcia defeated Marissa Gauss, 6-0, 6-1, while Reynolds Cross and Megan Marble were victorious at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

In doubles play, the Cardinal duo of Cross and Madeline Urban made quick work of Gauss and Shales, 8-1 at No. 2, while Jenny Velasquez and Marble defeated the Eagle (0-1) combination of Michaela DeLong and Megan Hunt, 8-1.

North Central wraps up the fall season Oct. 4-5, travelling to Bloomington, Ill. for the CCIW Tournament, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
