Souvannasing was chosen as this week's top performer throughout the conference after his performance in the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Saturday at Al B. Carius Track. He placed second in the long jump, recording a personal-best distance of 22 feet, 7 inches, then added a seventh-place effort in the triple jump (42'2 3/4"). He also placed fourth in the 60-meter dash, equaling the North Central indoor record with a time of 7.03 seconds.

Souvannasing currently leads the CCIW and ranks 27th among all Division III competitors in the long jump this season.

The selection gives North Central four CCIW Athlete of the Week Awards this indoor season. Distance runner John Crain was named the conference's Runner of the Week last week and pole vaulter Peter Geraghty has been named the conference's Field Athlete of the Week twice.

The third-ranked Cardinals host the Cardinal Classic on Friday. Competition in field events is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., with running events to begin at 5:00.
