Feb. 19, 2013 - North Central College women's track and field athletes Jocelyn Redlinski and Elizabeth Composto have been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athletes of the Week for Feb. 11-17.

The pair were selected on the strength of their efforts in Friday's Cardinal Classic at Al B. Carius Track, during which North Central won three events and claimed first place in a 13-team field.

Redlinski was named the CCIW's Track Athlete of the Week after establishing a new North Central varsity record in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 9.13 seconds to place third overall. She currently ranks first in the CCIW and 26th nationally in the event. Redlinski also set a North Central record in the pentathlon (3,207 points) earlier in the season, ranking second in the conference and 15th among NCAA Division III competitors.

Composto earned the CCIW's Field Athlete of the Week Award for the second time this season after clearing a personal-best height of 12 feet, 6 1/4 inches to win the pole vault on Friday. She also turned in a personal-best time of 8.21 seconds in the 60-meter dash prior to the pole vault competition. Composto ranks first in the CCIW and fourth in Division III in the pole vault and has placed first in the event at each of North Central's meets in 2013.

The Cardinals travel to Carthage College this weekend for the CCIW Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Friday and 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
