AURORA, Ill. (Mar. 10, 2013) – The North Central College men's tennis team improved to 3-3 this season with a 7-2 victory over Aurora University, Sunday afternoon at the Vaughan Athletic Center.
In singles play, the Cardinals (3-3) took five of six matches as
Adam Ciccone fought off Ricky Hernandez, 7-5, 0-6, 10-7 at the No. 1 position. At No. 3,
Josh Rodig was victorious due to injury default while
Mason Sass made quick work of Anthony Emmanouil in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4, and
Jesse Adamson cruised past Matt Butler at the No. 5 spot 6-4, 6-3 before
Travis Kaszynski came back to defeat Conner Propp, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
In doubles competition, Kaszynski and Ciccone downed the Spartan's (0-3) Brett Wilder and Emmanouil, 8-2 at No. 1 while the combination of Adamson and Rodig overpowered Propp and Butler, 8-4.
North Central returns to the court Tuesday, Mar. 12 travelling to Elgin Community College with matches slated to begin at 2 p.m.
