HILTON HEAD, S.C. (Mar. 18, 2013) – The North Central College women's tennis team opened the spring portion of their schedule with an 8-1 loss to Benedict College (S.C.) on Sunday and a 5-1 victory over McDaniel College on Monday afternoon.

The Cardinals (9-6) were handled by NCAA Division II institution Benedict in its spring break opener.  Megan Marble, competing in the No. 6 doubles slot, recorded the only North Central victory in a two-set domination of Darnel Howlett 6-2, 6-0.

Due to weather, North Central's match against McDaniel was shortened, but the rain had little effect on the Cardinals performance.  The Cardinals went undefeated in singles play with Jenny Velasquez, Madeline Urban, and Reynolds Cross collecting victories.

Velasquez and Rebecca Ross added a victory in the No. 2 doubles position 8-1, and Kassandra Bernardo and Marble added the fifth victory in No. 3 doubles 8-3.

North Central is back on the court tomorrow against Graceland University at 3:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
