Apr. 15, 2013 - North Central College's Claire Norfleet has been recognized as the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Defensive Player of the Week for Apr. 8-14.

Norfleet helped the Cardinals go 3-0 last week as she finished with eight ground balls, 12 draw controls and four goals. She finished with two ground balls and five draw controls in a 15-0 shutout of Benedictine University on Tuesday, followed by a goal, three ground balls and four draw controls in an 11-9 win over Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday. Norfleet finished with three goals, three ground balls and three draw controls in a 17-13 win over DePauw University on Sunday.

Norfleet is the third North Central player to be so honored by the MWLC this season. Danielle Fiala and Gina Fisher were named the conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Mar. 25.

The Cardinals (8-3, 5-0 MWLC) travel to face Augustana College in a battle for first place in the MWLC standings on Tuesday, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Links to live video and in-game statistics can be found at northcentralcardinals.com/wlax.
