Sept. 29, 2013 – The North Central College women's tennis team claimed five of six singles matches, along with all three doubles matches, en route to an 8-1 victory over College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Illinois Wesleyan University at the NCC Tennis Courts.
In singles play,
Miranda Grizaffi made quick work of Svenja Schroeder, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 position, while
Kelsey Forkin downed Lauren Drawbridge, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 and
Madeline Urban defeated Brianna Doa in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 4 position.
Reynolds Cross and
Kayla Garcia each defeated Titan (2-6, 2-4 CCIW) opponents by identical, 6-1, 6-1 scores at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
In doubles competition, the Cardinals (7-5, 2-4 CCIW) claimed all three matches as the duo of Forkin and
Katie Drone outlasted Drawbridge and Andrea Kerwin, 8-6 at No. 1. At the No. 2 spot, Urban and Cross cruised past Schroeder and Lauren Casey, 8-3 while the combination of
Kassandra Bernardo and
Jenny Velasquez defeated Josie Linman and Brianna Doa, 8-4.
North Central is back on the court Oct. 1, travelling the short distance down the road to Benedictine University at 4 pm.
