Jan. 28, 2014 - North Central College pole vaulter Elizabeth Composto has been named one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 20-26.

Composto was selected the CCIW's top field-event athlete by the conference's eight head coaches on Tuesday after posting a first-place finish in the pole vault in her first competition of the 2014 indoor season, the Cardinal Opener at Al B. Carius Track, on Friday.

Her winning clearance of 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches is the top mark in the event in the CCIW and is tied for second nationally among NCAA Division III vaulters thus far this indoor season. Composto placed fourth at last year's national championships to earn All-America honors for the second straight season.

The 12th-ranked Cardinals travel to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Warhawk Classic on Saturday, with competition scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
