CCIW Press Release

Nov. 4, 2014 –
For the second consecutive season, North Central College women's tennis student-athlete Katie Drone has been selected to the All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) second team.

Drone's consecutive second team selections solidify her in program history, becoming just the second student-athlete to earn All-CCIW honors in each of her first two seasons, as she looks to match Corey Schillerstrom's '12 mark of becoming a four-year all-conference selection.

Drone finished the season with an overall record of 10-14, all at the No. 1 position playing against each opponent's top player, including a 6-8 mark in dual matches while posting a 3-4 record in CCIW play. Drone led the Cardinals to a second straight fourth-place finish in CCIW play, while finishing with an overall record of 10-4, matching the most wins during the fall season since 2010.

With its fourth-place finish in the CCIW, North Central qualifies for the CCIW Automatic Qualifier Tournament, held during the spring season, Apr. 24-25, with the winner receiving the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The Cardinals kick off the spring season traveling to the Spring TennisFest at Hilton Head Island, S.C., Mar. 22-25.
