Hilton Head Island, S.C. (Mar. 24, 2014) –
The North Central College women's tennis team opened its spring trip with a pair of losses, falling at the hands of Centre College, 6-2 on Sunday before facing undefeated Northwood University on Monday, ultimately falling 9-0.
 
On Sunday against Centre (2-4), the Colonels claimed all three doubles matches to begin the afternoon.  In singles play, the Cardinals received victories from Katie Drone at the No. 1 position, fighting off Kathryn Hays in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 10-4, and Kelsey Forkin at the No. 4 spot, taking down Molly McElvogue, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
 
On Monday, the Cardinals faced arguably its toughest opponent of the season in a Northwood squad that entered the match at a perfect 19-0.  The Timberwolves won five of six singles matches in straight sets.  Clare O'Connor took Margarita Asatryan to three sets at No. 6 singles, but ultimately fell 7-6, 2-6, 10-5.
 
North Central continues its trip tomorrow, facing Buena Vista University at 10:30 am (ET) at the Spring Tennisfest.
