Hilton Head Island, S.C. (Mar. 25, 2014) – After dropping the first two matches of its spring trip, the North Central women's tennis team bounced back with an 8-1 victory, making quick work of Buena Vista University.
In doubles play, the Cardinals (9-8) swept all three matches to begin the afternoon as
Kelsey Forkin and
Reynolds Cross held on to defeat Haley Henrichs and Cassidy Ipsen at the No. 1 spot, 8-6. At No. 2, the Cardinal combination of
Katie Drone and
Miranda Grizaffi shut out Elizabeth Heffernan and Tasha Nelson, 8-0 while
Kassandra Bernardo and
Rebecca Ross downed Tarynne Kinghorn and Samantha Kavan, 8-4 at No. 3.
In singles play, Drone made quick work of Henrichs, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, while Grizaffi defeated Heffernan in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. At the No. 3 spot, Forkin downed Nelson is straight 6-1 sets, while Cross cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ipsen at No. 4 and
Clare O'Connor needed three sets but came away with a 7-5, 3-6, 11-9 victory at No. 6.
North Central wraps up its spring trip tomorrow, squaring off against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 3 pm (ET).
